Know A Lot, Or Know A Little, Expand Your Knowledge Here!

It always helps to have another persons perspective when deciding on changes to make, upgrades to buy or the gun to get! This page is for users who want to discuss the pros and cons of different guns/markers, as well as talk about upgrades that help or simply look cool!

“Personally, I have only owned a Tippmann marker. I have shot many others, the first paintball gun I ever used was a Kingman Spyder Victor II. The first paintball marker I got was a Tippmann 98 Custom. I saved up for half a year for all the cool modifications and upgrades that turned it into an M4 & Sniper. I searched long and hard for the custom M4 kit. Adding additional features. From a red dot scope to a blue & red illuminated scope, my sniper was an accurate one!

I currently now use a Tippmann X7 Phenom with a G36 kit, it is absolutely phenomenal! I love it, there’s so much great things to say. Reliable, accurate, quick, fun, 3-firing modes, function-able without a battery, light-weight, customize-able.. the list goes on! I’ve used it in warm weather, cold weather, rainy/wet weather & it still shoots perfect!”   SCARPZ

  1. Nice choice Connor!

As you all probably can guess, my current choice of marker is also a Tippmann 98! Accurate, reliable, & fully customize-able!

I’ve had mine for over 5 years, and only ever replaced the bolt and spring once! Talk about low maintenance! I’ve taken it apart a few times to clean, other than that she’s always good to go!

Rain or shine she will outperform almost any other marker in it’s class. As times change there is always the need to upgrade, but for the era the Tippmann 98 Custom was in, it held the crown for quite a while!

    1. Depends where you get your stuff, where you live etc but to make your marker a basic M4, if you purchase your upgrades online you could do it for around $400
      – New barrel – $70-$100
      – M4 Shroud – $50-$60
      – M4 Stock – $60-$90
      – Carry Handle – $30-$40
      – M4 Mag – $40-$50
      – M4 Front Sight – $30-$40

  2. Love your video’s! I want to buy my first gun. but i have a low budget (very low). What’s the cheapest guns available and where from? And any advice for a newbie?

    1. Thanks Scott! Which ones your favourite? The cheapest gun available, would probably be a Kingman Spyder or something similar. It’s around $60.00CDN or for you 40pounds. eBay is the best place to look if you wanna save money. It’s a decent starter gun, my friend had one when we were kids its the first paintball gun I ever shot.

    2. Scott, i would reccomend to get the tippmann gryphon.its 60$ just for the gunon amazon and like 120$ some wher around itfor the mask gun pods co2 tank (24 oz) squeegee and harness…… Scapez i love ur videos and ur m4 gun…kep on making good videos 😉

  3. my favourite?… hard to pic honestly there all addictive to watch. ive watched all of them more than at least 3 times each lol. oh ok then the kingman spyder it is, thanks for the quick reply and advice its much appreciated. me and my friend have a message for you… make more videos! lol thanks again

    1. lol! well glad you like them so much, rewarding to hear! appreciate the comment! And no problem, haha alright will do! You can expect to see another round of vids very soon! Already finished the first of 5.

  4. Okay nice, well I love the Tippmann 98, but I picked mine up 6 years ago before all the new markers came out. At this point in time I would have to say the BT TM-15 is more steady with shots and probably more accurate! And right on! That’s one of my most exciting videos so I can see why!

    1. Definitely a good marker, is yours electronic though? Can you vouch for an electronic marker being more reliable than mechanical? With the added components it’s hard to compete with a simpler firing system in terms of reliability.

  5. i have a question i have a jt tcatical paintball gun and i love it but my question is thah if i sell my jt tactical for buy me a bt omega or bt delta or a project salvo what u recomend me?

    1. Nice! Hopefully my videos had an influence on that decision 😛 I would get an electronic trigger 98 or A5, either way too many people have electronic guns shooting 15+ balls a second so to keep up you might as well start off at the same level. That’s not really a question I can answer, depends where you get your stuff, where you live etc but to make your marker a basic M4, if you purchase your upgrades online you could do it for around $400

      – New barrel – $70-$100
      – M4 Shroud – $50-$60
      – M4 Stock – $60-$90
      – Carry Handle – $30-$40
      – M4 Mag – $40-$50
      – M4 Front Sight – $30-$40

  6. I gotta say, i love my 98 custom as well. I put the flatline barrell and a 6 pos. stock on it and am having a blast! I was thinking about attaching a red dot sight but dont know what would be best. What do you think?

  7. Scarpz. Is there a gun that you really want to get like a G4 ot a mini….i was jusy wondering cus i mostly see ur videos n u r using ur tipman m4…. the red n black one

    1. Yup! I have been eyeing a couple markers and setups for a while! I’ll always keep my 98! Although you can expect to see a more modern killing machine in the near future!

  8. i wana buy a tipman marker/gun but i cant afford 1 and/or dont know witch 1 to buy… i have tried a 98c i liked it but it costs way to mutch $300?so what gun should i buy right now i have a jt outcast it broke tho…

  9. i like the tippmann sierra 1 (project salvo) very little maintenance needed mid range for customisation suitable for loads of game types and fairly light. overall a great beginners marker ! tell me if you have ever used it and your thoughts thanks 🙂

  10. hi me again how much was the red and black gun camo for your 98 and where did you get it and is it available for the sierra1

    1. It costs as much as the cans of paint, I did it myself there is a video of how I did it here on my website just search “red tiger custom gun camo”

  11. Hey Scarpz! Got another question for you. I am looking around for a carry handle for my 98 custom that has rails on top for my new cp 1×40 red/green dot scope. im having some problems finding one that will fit my marker. You got any leads?

    1. That’s a common situation, finding the right rail size, it usually simply takes some serious searching I would just type good keywords in Google like: “Tippmann 98 Custom Carry Handle Rail Mount”

  12. Hi Scarpz, love your videos. I have been paintballing for about a year and I want to get a paintball gun now. Just wondering how you feel about the A5 compared to the 98 custom. I have heard that the feeder system is not as good and sometimes it breaks the paintballs. Also, is it possible to customize the x7 phenom to something like the m4 gun that you have or similar? Thanks Scarpz, have a good one.

    Patrick

    1. Thanks Patrick, the A-5 with an E-Trigger would be better than a 98. However like you mentioned the X-7 is out, and it performs phenomenally! I just picked one up myself, the G36 kit. I love it. You can certainly make an X7 like an M4.

  13. I use the tippmann bravo one tactical. Its reliable shoots fast and is extremely accurate even stock. I just use a semi-auto trigger because this is my first gun.

    1. Nice, Tippmann makes great markers. Semi-Auto is a good way to begin because it allows you to hone in on your skills and practice precision & accuracy. What city & field do you play at?

  14. SHUT UP FOOLS of course the tippman 98 is a good marker when your poor but really the best marker is the ECLIPSE GSL and GEO 3.1 with its supreme fire rate and accuracy but is really expensive that dont matter to me tho

    1. lol Nathan relax no need degrade anyone here, everyone has the right to their opinion but you have to be respectful to others. Thanks for your comment and marker recommendation!

    1. BT Delta Elite. I like it and am thinking of getting one myself for close-quarter-combat and playing paintball in buildings. If I can recommend another marker, it would be a Tippmann A5 or Tippmann X7 Phenom.

    1. Hey Blade! Thanks for coming out to Day of Redemption it was good to meet you buddy!

For the price, it is a decent purchase. It comes with a full kit so you don’t need to modify it much if at all. However keep in mind, less common markers are more difficult to maintenance & fix. I have only ever used a Tippmann for that reason. I never have problems on the field, it always shoots consistent and well. When it comes time to replace common parts like springs & o-rings inside, its a simple quick D.I.Y. I love my Tippmann X7 Phenom, I would recommend it or at least a Tippmann A5.

      SCARPZ

  15. Okay so I’ll get an A5, but I was wondering if the attachments you have for your 98 custom or similiar looking ones are for the A5. I’m trying to go for an MP5 look with a sniper scope. Kind of odd but I think it would work lol. Oh and by the way I really like your custom hopper for your 98 LOL is that a pod you used?

    1. Picatinny mounts work with any picattinny mount, Tippmann 98 parts and Tippmann A5 parts might not work together. Get a BT Delta Elite if you want an MP5 look! Thanks, yes its a pod – attached to a 50 round tactical hopper.

  16. I Have the Spyder MR5 and what i have to say about it is…… ITS AWESOME!!! The MR5 is very air efficient and VERY easy to clean and one of the best things about this marker is that you can switch from mag fed to hopper fed with the twist of the barrel!!! I would recommend this gun for bigger/experienced players…… But i also highly recommend the Tippmann Tipx!
